The Cultural Center of the Philippines (CCP) and the Animation Council of the Philippines, Inc. (ACPI) present the 11th Animahenasyon Festival on November 17 to 18, at the Tanghalang Aurelio Tolentino and Tanghalang Manuel Conde.
Animahenasyon is an annual Filipino animation festival that features the different animation works of both aspiring and professional animators in the country through a competition.
The Philippine animation festival aims to encourage the production of original content in Philippine animation, recognize the Filipino talent in the field of animation, and achieve local and international animation excellence and competitiveness.
On the 17th, there will be a special screening of the Japanese animated film Kimi No Na Wa (Your Name) at 10a.m., at the Tanghalang Aurelio Tolention (Little Theater).
The screening of Pinay Style By Filipino Women Animators will happen at 2:30p.m., followed by a forum in Women in Animation. Turbulents Times, Familiar, with introduction by Katarina Petsche, will be shown at 6p.m.
Catch the My Mummy Is In America & She Met Buffalo Bill animated film on November 18, at 11 a.m., at the Tanghalang Manuel Conde (Dream Theater). There will be a back-to-back screening of Aya Of Yop City and The Girl Without Hands at 1:30p.m.
The Animahenasyon Festival will culminate with an awarding ceremony on November 18, at 4:30p.m., at Tanghalang Manuel Conde. All winning entries will receive trophies and cash prizes.
Animation enthusiasts and practitioners can also catch the festival’s symposium and conferences on November 11, at the Samsung Hall of SM Aura in Bonifacio Global City. The ICT Creative Awarding Night will happen at 5:10p.m., also at Samsung Hall of SM Aura.
The conferences will tackle themes such as Sequential Art in Storytelling, Dance & Technology Installations, Anime Revolution, Aneeme, Pinoy Animation on Virtual Reality, Job Platform to the Creative Industry, and Let’s Hear It From the Millennials.
The speakers include: James Palabay, N&N Corsino, Kriss Sison of Gunship Revolution, Vanessa Tan and Joel Casimiro of DOST, Paul Rivera of Kalibrr, Mich Cervantes, Jeca Martines and Pauline Bautista.
