All too often people see the brushed beauty of watercolor, acrylic and oils — painted works that dominate galleries and opulent homes. On the other hand, drawings and works done with the pen and pencil are generally seen as studies, drafts, and incomplete pieces. Art has, in some ways, become a word exclusive to creations that require layers of color and brushwork. What of beauty that comes from monochrome, creative spontaneity from accidents and impulsive strokes?
This coming February 15th , Cevio Art Haus will present “Instant Doodles: the fourth bowlful”, the latest installment of drawing exhibitions organized by Piaget Martelino.
It will host a collection of 88 artists from different walks of life and professions, all coming together to pay tribute to the pencil and ink. Amidst these wonderful works will be spectacular live performances by Aldous Castro, The Rudy Manlapat Project with Wam Molina on congas, Guy Sacerdoti of SNAFU!, Flippin Soul Stompers and Esther? There will also be fire dancing by friends from Palnet Zips and Live Art by members of the Saturday Sketching Sessions Art Group. Guests are also encouraged to share their talent onstage and bring instruments.
Cevio Art Haus can be found at 60 San Isidro St., Kapitolyo, Pasig. The exhibit will open to the public at 7:00 PM on February 15.
