The over-development of Boracay Island – that place that many still see as a tropical paradise – means that, for many establishments there, the priority is to squeeze every cent off the tourists/visitors. And so, while the likes of popular venues Epic and SummerPlace used to freely allow people to enter their premises to party, party, party, now they charge from P200 (often more!) for people to have fun.
The move is actually acceptable – IF these places did changes to make the move worth it.
But considering the watered down drinks, the barring of certain populations from entering the venues… you’d be forgiven for having second thoughts being seen there.
Fortunately, all is not lost in the island, with new(er) bars surfacing to provide venues for those who just want to have fun.
Enter, for one, BonBon Bar.
Located in Station 2 (between Paraw and Epic) is this chill-out place that offers a hippy – well – everything. If you are considering going “reggae” in Boracay, then this is definitely one of the places to visit (just one; because even Yellow Cab Pizza Co. plays Bob Marley over and over and over again!).
The crowd is mixed (yes, yes, there are cuties here!). Though more often, expect to see rastas (or those who look the stereotypical part) when here.
No, you don’t have to pay to get in. Meaning, the P200 or more can be spent on – what else – drinking (!).
And no, you don’t need to shell out much for the drinks.
You don’t have to be into reggae to like this place either. Basically, if you’re looking for a “chill” place to be, this is definitely, DEFINITELY, worth checking out.
