CCP to light up San Fernando’s parols, giant Xmas tree on Nov. 12

The Christmas display will use environment-friendly LED light bulbs to be inaugurated in a special lighting ceremony on November 12, 6:00 PM at the Liwasang ASEAN and CCP Main Ramp.

A multitude of lanterns (measuring eight feet in diameter each) and a 50-foot tall Christmas tree will bring sparkle and yuletide cheer to the CCP Complex starting this November 2015 until January 3, 2016, through a partnership of the Cultural Center of the Philippines with Omni Electrical & LED Lighting Products and the City of San Fernando, Pampanga.

The Christmas display will use environment-friendly LED light bulbs to be inaugurated in a special lighting ceremony on November 12, 6:00 PM at the Liwasang ASEAN and CCP Main Ramp.

During the program, renditions of Christmas carols and medleys will be performed by the Philippine Philharmonic Orchestra Brass Ensemble and the Philippine Madrigal Singers, An excerpt from the well-loved Christmas ballet, “The Nutcracker” will feature Philippine Ballet Theater dancers while other surprise guests will lead in the countdown to the lighting of the Christmas tree and lanterns. Celebrity host Sam Oh will be the program emcee.

The CCP has pioneered in the display of Christmas decor along the Roxas Boulevard stretch of Manila and Pasay. Every Christmas season, for the past four years, the CCP has spotlighted the beauty, craftsmanship and tradition of San Fernando parols.

For this year, CCP combines modern technology with tradition by partnering with Yatai International Corporation, maker of Omni, environment-friendly lights. Omni LED bulbs will be used to illuminate the Christmas Tree and the San Fernando parols at the CCP Complex.

The CCP has begun to adopt LED technology and advancements in its environmental impact mitigation advocacy minimizing its carbon footprint and electrical consumption in production and exhibitions programming.
