What goes on behind the scenes of a film set?

Making a movie is something that most laymen don’t get to understand. Yes, we all get to see the finished project. And, we can all marvel or scoff at its brilliance or failures. But, we can never truly know what goes on underneath the waves. At least, we can’t if we don’t have a firsthand account of the inner workings of a film set. Thankfully, that is all about to change. This post is about to reveal all about what goes on behind the scenes.

CAMERAS EVERYWHERE

Of course, it isn’t hard to imagine turning every corner and being filmed. After all, it is a film set. Still, the cameras in question are more than floor cameras. On a film set, the director has to cover every possible angle. As such, they need to be able to film from the ground or the air with relative ease. With the help of Helivision.co, they can make that happen. These kinds of companies provide helicopter camera stabilization techniques and a variety of services. So, you are likely to come into contact with a cameraman even if you are in the bleachers.

GREEN SCREEN MAGIC

Have you ever seen something on film that seems too good to be true? That is because it is too good to be true. In fact, it is false and manufactured with the help of a green screen. The green screen technology means that a filmmaker can incorporate a host of ideas into their film. In basic terms, there is nothing too big or small that they can’t achieve. So, if you are ever on a film set and see an actor talking to a tennis ball, don’t judge. It is all part of the green screen magic. By the way, techradar.com states that they use green as it is as far away from the actor’s skin color as possible.

PEOPLE FLYING THROUGH THE AIR

Not everything is fixable with the help of a blue or green screen. Sometimes, the director and actors have to get together and perform. Well, maybe not the actors. For any actor that needs to fly through the air, there is a professional stunts person. These people do the scary and dangerous stunts that the film companies won’t let the actors do alone. Apparently, the cost of insurance is too high. The next time you wish you were on set to see your favorite actor, think again. Unless it is Tom Cruise, they are unlikely to do all of their stunts.

WORKPLACE POLITICS

Anyone that thinks the world of film is beyond workplace politics is wrong. In most cases, the world of film is worse than any office on the planet. The amount of money, agendas and ego that exist on set is amazing. And, for that reason, making a film is hard work. There are plenty of people that want to see it fail if it doesn’t suit their agenda. You might want to consider the underlying reasons the next time you criticize a move.

Does making a movie still sound like a dream career?
