The Cultural Center of the Philippines Intertextual Division is now open to accept literary contributions for the 40th edition of Ani, the official literary journal of the Cultural Center. Deadline for submissions will be on December 31, 2017.

With the theme “Katutubo,” the latest volume will feature essays, poems, short stories and other literary genre that focus on the Filipino’s strong affirmation to his homeland, and its rich heritage. The 40th edition will be launched in September next year.

The CCP recognizes the indigenous people who continuously preserve and promote their traditional cultures and traditions, which have been existing even before the Philippines had been invaded by foreign conquerors. The common perception about “katutubo” is all about pure culture and traditions. But through times, the indigenous cultures have evolved, and they are no longer limited to those who are born and raised into these traditions. Now, the term encapsulates and refers to those who have strong resolve in national identity, and pride in their homeland.
