Over 700 young musical artists from 14 groups across the country are slated to perform at the Banda Rito, Banda Roon, the Band and Orchestra Festival 2018 of the Cultural Center of the Philippines (CCP). The festival will run from July 20 to 22 at the CCP.
Banda Rito, Banda Roon 2018 has three main events: the Gala Concert of Orchestras on Friday, July 20 at 7:00 pm at the Main Theater; the Youth Symphonic Band Concert I on Saturday, July 21 at 7:00 pm at the Little Theater; and the Youth Symphonic Band Concert II on Sunday, July 22 at 4:00 pm also at the Little Theater. Parallel events such as the Open Air Brass Exhibition will be on Saturday, July 21 at 4:00 pm at the CCP Ramp and the Music Fair from July 20 to 21 will be at the Little Theater Lobby.
The 14 participating groups in the festival include: the Lasallian Youth Orchestra; the San Beda College Alabang Symphony Orchestra; the Seven Spirit Kids Orchestra (Cebu); the Manila Symphony Junior Orchestra; the Taytay Youth Symphonic Band; the Banda Sampaguita (Laguna); the St. Scholastica’s College Wind Orchestra; Ang Musikerong Batangueño (Batangas); the San Marcos Band ’92 (Navotas); the General Trias Youth Symphonic Band (Cavite); the Sasmuan Band 31 (Pampanga); the Marilao Community Symphonic Band (Bulacan); the Philippine Baton Twirling Association (PBTA), and the PhilBanda. There will also be small brass ensemble performances in the Little Theater Lobby during the Music Fair on July 20 to 21.
“The festival is on a grand scale since this is national event. Beyond the scale and scope of the event however is the fellowship and camaraderie shared between and among young and veteran musicians. The festival is also a venue where they could exchange learning experiences from their own regions,” Chris B. Millado, Vice-President and Artistic Director of the CCP said.
