The workshop consisted of production and stage management under freelance stage manager Ed Murillo, and technical direction under freelance technical director Barbie Tan-Tiongco.

The workshop was intended to professionalize and standardize the system of technical theater practices, not only within the participating member countries but also, throughout the entire ASEAN region, thus making the practice at par with international standards. It also aimed to develop the creative and technical skills and outlook of the participants in various disciplines in design and technical theater. Phase 1 commenced in 2007 with scene design under In Suk Suh and costume design under Gino Gonzales. In 2009, Phase 2 focused on lighting design headed by Michael Ramsaur and sound design with Rards Corpus as instructor.

The event was supported by ETC Asia through the provision of technical and lighting equipment for use in the said workshop. ETC Asia was represented by Mark Vassallo, the company’s vice president of sales.
