All systems go for the Philippine Pastel Artists (PPA) Inc. Fifth National Convention on November 28 to 29, from 10 am to 6 pm. This year’s National Pastel Convention will all take place online using popular social media platforms and video conferencing tools, specifically via Zoom and Facebook Live. All participants will have special access to online sessions for a colorful and fun-filled “virtual pastel weekend.”
The event opens on November 28, Saturday, at 10 am with inspirational speeches from the PPA officers, advisors and from some of the Philippines’ renowned artists who will underscore the importance of creating art in the time of the pandemic.
Noted pastel artists here and abroad are going to conduct paint-along demos. These include Filipino art stalwarts Roland Castro, Rafael Maniago, Bienvenido Sibug, Gary Carabio and Norberto Villez, and American pastel artist Vianna Szabo whose session entitled “The Impressionistic Landscape” is on November 29, Sunday, from 9 am to 12 noon.
The convention concludes on November 29 at 3 pm with the announcement of the National Pastel Competition winners, and a raffle of some of the world’s best pastel art materials.
All videos and sessions will be recorded and available for viewing (after November 29) for a limited time.
The convention is open to all. Fee is Php 900.00 for non-members and Php720 for PPA members, PWDs, students and senior citizens.
