The Friedrich Naumann Foundation for Freedom of Germany awarded The Freedom Project 2013 Jury Prize and the People’s Choice Award to DISKARTE, CCP’s radio program in partnership with the Manila Broadcasting Corporation (MBC). The broadcast show was cited for its “personal take on the issue of corruption and sustains awareness on the ill-effects of corruption thereby encouraging more citizens to be involved in demanding honest and good governance.”
The radio program started in 2004 as SUGPUIN ANG KORUPSYON, but was renamed in 2012 as DISKARTE to mean discussion of social issues using the arts. In line with CCP’s vision-mission of using the arts for social transformation, art, specifically drama, music, and poetry are used to trigger discussions on issues of governance.
Harvey Keh, a member of the Freedom Project jury said, “Radio remains an effective source of information in spite the proliferation of online media.”
DISKARTE airs every Saturday from 2:00 to 3:00 PM on DZRH (666 mHz).
Supervising Executive Producer, Eva Mari DG. Salvador; Associate Producer Lino Matalang Jr; Program Host/Producer for Public Affairs Flordeliz Abanto; and Associate Producer/Writer Ian Wong, received the award last November 10, 2013 at the San Diego Gardens in Intramuros, Manila.
