The Cultural Center of the Philippine intertextual Division (CCP-ID) has announced that it is accepting contributions to ANI 39 on the theme “The Animal Kingdom/ Kahayupan”.
The volume to be launched early next year will contain familiar essays, poems and short fiction on lower forms of animals as metaphor or subject of narrative.
Herminio S. Beltran Jr., ANI editor and CCP-ID head, said that the issue is inspired by “so many netizens writing literary works about their pets in the social networks or who are moved to reflect on animal rights espoused by interest groups and environmentalists. An emerging consciousness towards attaining humane treatment of
so- called ‘lower forms’ is stimulating the creation of new fables and animal tales, rhymes and odes for the 21st century.”
Works may be in Filipino, English or any Philippine language with a translation or gist (for long prose works) in Filipino or English.
Contributions must be typed double-spaced on 81/2” x 11” using Arial or Roman 12 points, accompanied with the author’s five-sentence bionote and TIN (tax identification number).
Works must be emailed to anijournal@yahoo.com. Deadline for submission is December 31.
Contributors must also attach a written permission to CCP-ID to enable it to feature their works in the Intertextual Division Programs Page. Works well-liked by readers will have a high chance of being included in the printed edition to be launched in early 2016.
