CCP now accepting applications for 7th National Rondalla Workshop

After the synchronous sessions, participants will record and submit performances of songs assigned by the trainors to be showcased during the Virtual Culminating Program streaming on September 24, 2022 at 3:00 PM via the CCP Facebook Page.

The Artist Training Division of the Cultural Center of the Philippines (CCP) is accepting applications for the (7th) National Rondalla Workshop happening online via Zoom on July 19 – 23, 2022, from 9:00 AM to 6:30 PM. This is the second year the workshop will be held online.

The workshop trainers will be led by Prof. Elaine Juliet Espejo of the Celso Espejo Rondalla and the UP Rondalla, and faculty member of the UP College of Music.

After the synchronous sessions, participants will record and submit performances of songs assigned by the trainors to be showcased during the Virtual Culminating Program streaming on September 24, 2022 at 3:00 PM via the CCP Facebook Page.

Started in 2014, the CCP National Rondalla Workshop aims to reach the young musicians’ full potential as rondalla performers. The workshop has been gaining prominence as a workshop known for training top prize winners and finalists of the National Music Competitions for Young Artists (NAMCYA), both in ensemble and solo bandurria categories.

For this year, the workshop is open to the following participants:

1.       Any individual rondalla conductors and/or instrumentalists who are non-beginners

2.       Any Filipino rondalla groups who:

a.    Have all the rondalla instruments (bandurria, octavina/laud, guitar, & bass);

b.    Are at least two (2) years of existence; and

c.    Are non-beginners

*All participants will be required to have their own rondalla instruments for the workshop.

MODULES:

1.       Sectional rehearsals per rondalla instrument

2.       Note reading sessions

3.       Group cliniquing sessions for each rondalla ensemble

4.       Group cliniquing for the individual instrumentalist/conductor participants

2      The application form will require an audio-video recording of a recent performance (from 2019 to the present) of at least two (2) pieces by the group/individual

*Acceptance to the workshop will be based on the merit of the application.

*Participating groups will be given the opportunity to render a short performance during the Online Opening Program.


WORKSHOP FEE

The workshop fee for individual conductors/instrumentalists and for rondalla groups with a conductor is Two Thousand Pesos (Php 2,000.00) per participant slot. The workshop fee is inclusive of online materials and newly arranged rondalla pieces.

Upon notice of acceptance, each rondalla group must pay a reservation fee of Five Thousand Pesos (Php5,000.00) that will be deducted from the full amount of the registration fee. Reservation fees are not required from individual conductors/instrumentalists, but registration is on a first-come-first-served basis.
