CCP now offering dance classes

The Cultural Center of the Philippines is now offering dance classes for actors, to hone the dance and movement skills of musical theater practicioners. The classes shall be given by dance experts from Ballet Philippines (BP) to be held at the Ballet Philippines Dance School at the CCP and at the SM Aura.

The Cultural Center of the Philippines is now offering dance classes for actors, to hone the dance and movement skills of musical theater practicioners. The classes shall be given by dance experts from Ballet Philippines (BP) to be held at the Ballet Philippines Dance School at the CCP and at the SM Aura.

The Actor’s Dance Class (CCP Dance School – Studio 1, Saturday 4:00-5:30pm) explores extensive range of styles and disciplines across all levels of experience. It aims to sharpen skills of theater practitioners. The creative exercises are provided to enable each participant to compose and improvise through song, movement, speech and dance.

Specifically designed for the adult dancer, Adult Elementary Ballet for Actors (Venue: CCP Dance School – Baby Ballet Studio; Day/Time: Wednesday and Friday 7:00-8:00pm, Saturday 3:00-4:00pm), aims to guide mature students through careful instruction and motivation to improve their technical and artistic abilities. Perfect for those interested in taking dance for fitness and recreation, or for the experienced adult dancer who wants to continue or return to serious training, classes retain the demands and focus on technical details of ballet.

For the Elementary Modern Dance Classes for Actors (CCP Dance School – Studio 1, Tuesday and Thursday 5:30-6:30pm), modern dance explores dance movements beyond the set boundaries of classical ballet, incorporating influences from day-to-day movements, folk dances, martial arts and other sports, as well as contemporary/popular dance. Modern serves as a laboratory for emerging dancers and choreographers, allowing the discovery of new artists in dance.

The Ballet Workout for Actors course (CCP Dance School – Studio 1, Monday and Wednesday 9:00-10:00am; BP Dance School – SM AURA: Mondays 3:00-4:00pm, 6:00-7:00pm; Wednesdays, 10:00-11:00am, 3:00-4:00pm, 6:30-7:30pm; Fridays, 11:30-12:30pm, 1:00-2:00pm, 3:00-4:00pm, 8:30-9:30pm) is focused on fitness (strength and stretching, low-impact workout) based on classical ballet exercises. Like any form of exercise, the Ballet Workout is sure to reduce stress levels and release good hormones. Learning the basics of ballet will build your strength and improve your balance and coordination. It is highly recommended for women who want to enhance their mind and muscle memory while strengthening the core muscles in their body.

Be as powerful and graceful as ballerinas with Ladies’ Ballet for Actors (CCP Dance School Studio 1, Tuesday and Thursday 9:30-11:00am; BP Dance School – SM AURA: Ladies’ Ballet 1, Monday and Friday 10:00-11:30am, Fridays 4:00-5:30pm; Ladies’ Ballet 2, Tuesday and Thursday 10:00-11:30am, Friday 7:00-8:30pm). The class is recommended for students who want to take up ballet technique class to achieve a good posture, build a strong and lean center, improve flexibility, and tone their muscles. Also recommended for former dancers who are in need of an easier back-to-basics classical ballet class.

Active Stretch for Actors (CCP Dance School – Studio 1, Tuesday and Thursday 8:30-9:30am; BP Dance School – SM AURA: Monday 2:00-3:00pm, 7:00-8:00pm, Tuesday 9:00-10:00am, Wednesday 2:00-3:00pm, Thursday 9:00-10:00am, Fridays 2:00-3:00pm, 8:30-9:30pm) is a body shaping, toning, and strengthening program. Active Stretch develops strength and endurance through highly intensive stretching workout based on ballet, yoga, floor pilates and gyrotonics.

Registration is P500, Per class (1 hr) – P550, Per class (1 ½ hr) – P600, Monthly 1x/week – P2200, Monthly 2x/week – P2760, Monthly 3x/week – P3180, and Monthly unlimited – P5000.
