CCP presents Japanese mime artist Iimuro Naoki

Japanese mime artist Iimuro Naoki will be in Manila for a performance and workshop at the Cultural Center of the Philippines on February 27 to 28, and March 1.

Japanese mime artist Iimuro Naoki will be in Manila for a performance and workshop at the Cultural Center of the Philippines on February 27 to 28, and March 1.

Naoki will give a pantomime performance entitled “Time of Mime2” on February 27 and 28, 7:30PM at the CCP Tanghalang Aurelio Tolentino. The February 27th show is invitational while the February 28th performance is open to the public. The pantomime show is presented in cooperation with the Japan Foundation.

On March 1, 2:ooPM to 4:00PM, Naoki will hold a Contemporary Mime Workshop for professional theater actors at the CCP Tanghalang Huseng Batute. The workshop, organized by the CCP Artist Training Division is also open to observers, free of charge.

Naoki is an award winning mime actor who graduated from the Ecole International de Mimodrame de Paris Marcel Marceau and the Conservatoire Niedermeyer d’Issy Les Moulineaux Ecole Nationale de Musique de Dance et d’Art Dramatique. He learned mime from acclaimed French mime actor Marcel Marceau, the founder of modern pantomime. Since then, He has been actively performing in various festivals in the world, and getting awards both in Japan and overseas. In 2009, he had won gold medal for the mime improvisation section at Delphic Games in South Korea, and received Special Prize in street performance competition at Kobe Biennale Festival in Japan.
