The Cultural Center of the Philippines (CCP) will hold its 14th Hands-On Choral Workshop on May 29 – June 2, 2018 from 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM at various venues of CCP.
A program under the Center for Choral Performance, the Choral Workshop is a choral clinic open to amateur choirs who have been in existence for at least two years, and choral conductors, who wish to hone their skills in choral singing, conducting and performance. This Workshop has trained choirs and conductors from different parts of the country, some of whom have already competed and won in local and international choral competitions.
The Philippine Madrigal Singers led by choirmaster Mark Anthony Carpio leads the team of trainors composed of present and alumni members of the world renowned choral ensemble.
The Workshop modules include sectional vocal techniques, sight-singing and ear training, individual choir cliniquing sessions, conducting sessions for choral conductors, and a plenary session wherein all the choirs and conductors gather together to learn a common piece. The training program will also provide each choir the opportunity to perform in their own time slot within the five days. Participating choirs will be given the opportunity to render a short performance at the Tanghalang Aurelio Tolentino within the duration of the Workshop.
For the first time, the Workshop will provide the individually registered qualified active choral conductors the opportunity to conduct the laboratory choir, the Sing Philippines Youth Choir (SPYC) during the Workshop proper.
The Workshop will culminate in a program at the Tanghalang Nicanor Abelardo (CCP Main Theater) on Saturday, June 2, 2018 at 3:00 PM, featuring all the participating choirs and conductors. Due to limited choir slots for the Workshop, registration is on a first-come-first-served basis.
