The Cultural Center of the Philippines presents the Philippine Philharmonic Orchestra (PPO) in a Musical Instruments Appreciation Series for Children and Families, a virtual “instruments petting zoo” to be held on Sundays, starting on Sunday, June 21 at 4:00 PM, in celebration of Father’s Day.  The series focuses on a different instrument every Sunday.  Its maiden session will focus on the violin with featured PPO violinist Christian Tan.

The series will feature one to two members of the Philippine Philharmonic Orchestra per session who will share to the audience about his/her musical instrument and demontrate how it is played.  The session also includes a topic on playing techniques, and the performance of pieces by the PPO member.  The series aims to promote among children and families, appreciation for the individual instruments of the orchestra and its music.

Annually since 2015, the CCP presents “Tricks and Musical Treats, a PPO Family Concert” on the last Sunday of October, with a different theme every year.  This highly successful concert for children and families includes pre-concert activities which includes a trick or treat and an “instruments petting zoo” wherein the PPO member encourages the children to handle his/her musical instrument while he/she demonstrates to them how this is to be played.

This year, the “instruments petting zoo” will be held every Sunday at 4:00 PM starting on June 21 and is planned to run for several months.  The program is open to the public via Facebook live through the PPO Facebook page.
