Cinemalaya has announced the slated Cinemalaya Forum for 2013, consisting of a series of presentations and panel discussions said to be eyeing to explore the various facets of Pinoy indie filmmaking to allow those interested to learn from the filmmakers themselves, appreciate their notion of film, and see from their perspective the current issues they encounter in their filmmaking.
Running for two days – July 30 to 31 – at the Cultural Center of the Philippines, the forum will have six sessions. These include: film language according to indie filmmakers (session 1); casting actors, non-actors and stars (session 2); making indie film under P3 million (session 3); current problems and practices of marketing and distributing indie films (session 4); crossing over from indie to mainstream, and vice versa (session 5); and classification, self-regulation and artistic freedom (session 6).
In a press statement, Cinemalaya stated that “understanding these different facets of indie filmmaking will allow participants to appreciate indie films and indie filmmaking, in particular, and films and filmmaking, in general.”
Panel speakers confirmed to be part of the 2013 incarnation of Cinemalaya Forum include: Adolfo Alix Jr., Raymond Red, Atty. Josabeth Alonso, Rhia Arda, Alem Ang, Jade Castro, and Atty. Eugenio Villareal.
The two-day forum starts at 8.00AM and ends at around 5.00PM on the first day; with a 9.00AM to 12.10PM schedule on the second day.
