The event is held in connection with the Philippine hosting of the ASEAN 2017, and coincides with the ASEAN’s 50th founding anniversary.

The Madz Et Al, a brainchild of National Artist for Music and Founder of the Philippine Madrigal Singers Prof. Andrea O. Veneracion, is a network of choirs led by members and alumni of the Madz. This network stages what is today the Philippines’s biggest and longest running choral festival, bringing together almost a hundred choirs in a week-long series of performances annually for over thirty years now.

This year, the festival will showcase various choral works from different member ASEAN countries such as Singapore, Vietnam, Indonesia, Cambodia, Thailand, Brunei, Myanmar, Malaysia, Laos and the Philippines. One country is featured in every show for both matinee and gala. Each participating choir looks forward to not only bring outstanding music to its audiences but to “strengthen its ties with other participants, thus helping promote ASEAN 2017’s theme, “Partnering for change, engaging the world.”

The performing groups from the different regions of the country include Anima Christi Chorale, Coro De Sta. Cecilia, Kalinangan Chamber Singers, Samahang Banal na Mag-Anak Chorale, UPLB Choral Ensemble, Arellano Law Singers, Dasmariñas Chamber Singers, National Grid Corporation Chorale, Philippine National Police Chorale, UPLB Lisieux Music Ministry, Acapellago, De La Salle HIS Saring Himig, Shrine of Jesus Children and Youth Choir, Saint Scholastica’s College Chamber Choir, Virlanie Children’s Voices, AUP Little Singers, Coro D’llera Music Ministry, De La Salle University Chorale, Mandaluyong Children’s Choir, Minstrels of St. La Salle, De La Salle University – Dasmariñas Chorale, Lighter Side Movement, Makiling Voices, Perfect Fourth, UP Mindanao Koro Kantahanay, Angeli Domini Music Ministry, Mandaluyong City Hall Employees Chorale, Pansol Choir, POEA Chorale, Supreme Court Chorale, TIP Choral Society, ALab Vocal Ensemble, Philippine Vocal Ensemble, The Sentire Chorale, UP Manila Chorale, Voce FiCH (Voices of Filipino Chinese), Bartholomean Chamber Singers, Kilyawan Consortium of Voices, Koro Ilustrado, National Shrine of Our Lady of Fatima Grand Chorale, PAL Chorale, BSU Saring Himig, Imus Institute of Science and Technology Choral Groups, Letran Templar Singing Ambassadors, Novo Concertante Manila, RD Youth Choir, Our Lady of Fatima University Chorale, PWU Vocal Ensemble, Sto.
