The Manila Chamber Orchestra Foundation and Ayala Museum have announced that it is slated to present the second concert of the “Great Performances Series” with the upcoming performance of Malaysia’s premiere pianist Claudia Yang in a solo concert on July 27 at the Ayala Museum at 7:00 in the evening.
Acclaimed as “pianist who really plays from her whole heart and soul” (Lorin Maazel) and “one of the rare pianist who brings joy to their audience.” (Paul Badura-Skoda), Yang studied at the Hochschule fur Music und Darstellende Kunst in Vienna under foremost pedagogue Prof. Paul Badura Skoda and later with Ludwig Hoffman. She was awarded with a Bosendorfer scholarship that leads to concerts throughout Europe and music festivals.
In 1997, she was invited by the Chinese and Malaysian Ambassador to give a diplomatic recital in Budapest. Since then, she was regularly invited by the State to perform for their diplomatic events including the NATO meeting in Hungary, the opening of “Meet in Beijing” International Music Festival, the state visit of Malaysian Prime Minister Dato’Seri Abdullah bin Haji Ahmad Badawi in China. In 2010, she was invited by the Frederic Chopin Society in Poland to celebrate Chopin’s 200 Birth Anniversary. Since then, she was invited to sit as a jury member at the International Chopin Competition for Young Artists. In commemoration with the 200th anniversary of Franz Liszt’s birth, she was invited by the Hungarian Government to tour Asia and Europe giving concerts with the complete Liszt’s repertoire.
Upcoming performances include recitals in Russia, Hungary, Switzerland, Finland, China, Indonesia, Japan and as soloist with the Montreal Symphony Orchestra, Slovak Philharmonic, Malaysian Philharmonic, the Asia Pacific United Orchestra and Malta Philharmonic.
In Manila, she will be performing the heartrending complete Ballades of Frederic Chopin and the profound and fiendish Ten (10) preludes Op. 23 of Sergei Rachmaninoff. A special masterclass will be held on July 28 (Sunday) at 2:00 to 5:00 in the afternoon at the Ayala Museum free of charge to both the participants and the observers.
