‘Matugtog Kita’ collaborative project of Sorsoganon musicians slated on June 12

The event aims to promote the local community music scene and to amplify its call for institutional support for creative practices in music and performance that go beyond traditionally defined musical disciplines.

“Matugtog Kita”, a collaborative project of Sorsoganon musicians in Sorsogon City will be launching its first online performance entitled “ISURIYAW TA: Palayaon an Musikang Bikolnon!” on Independence Day, June 12.

The event aims to promote the local community music scene and to amplify its call for institutional support for creative practices in music and performance that go beyond traditionally defined musical disciplines.

“This will be the first ever online concert to feature an all-Bicolano song lineup organized by Sorsoganons. We believe that there is a necessity for musicians and artists to help one another and to create art and music that is relevant and meaningful to society” Matugtog Kita co-convenor, Pol Torrente said.

The free historic concert will be livestreamed on June 12 at 3pm via www.facebook.com/matugtogkita with performances by Chickoy Pura of The Jerks, Plagpul, Sarig, Save It for the Last, Bjorn Salvador, Ted Areola, Rey Laurenaria, Veron Tayam Divina, Melton Balicano, Julius Jeresano, JE Sipoy, Yen Llanera and Gary Dioquino.

“By engaging the local musicians in Sorsogon City in the field of music and performance, they are able to situate themselves in their roles as artists and cultural workers in their local communities” Torrente added.
