NAMCYA celebrates 40th year, announces competition schedules

Performing are the winners in the Choir and Rondalla competitions and Violin, Piano, Marimba, French Horn, and Tuba solo instrument competitions. The six winners in the Traditional Music Ensemble competition will also be presented.

The National Music Competitions for Young Artists (NAMCYA) celebrates 40 years of serving as catalyst in discovering and nurturing young Filipino musicians towards advancement of artistic performance, creativity, and Philippine music traditions. The event runs from November 19 to 24 at the Cultural Center of the Philippines.

With support from the National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCCA), the Cultural Center of the Philippines and the Department of Education and Culture (DepEd), the 2013 National Music Week will include outreach programs and the Final Round of the various group and solo NAMCYA competitions, culminating in the CONCERT OF WINNERS on Sunday, November 24, 6:00 pm at the CCP Tanghalang Nicanor Abelardo (Main Theater).

Performing are the winners in the Choir and Rondalla competitions and Violin, Piano, Marimba, French Horn, and Tuba solo instrument competitions. The six winners in the Traditional Music Ensemble competition will also be presented.

(Tue) Nov. 19, 10:00 am Opening Ceremonies (Little Theater); 1:00 pm Piano Competition (Main Theater)
(Wed) Nov. 20, 3:00 pm Tuba Competition (Little Theater); 5:00 pm French Horn Competition (Little Theater)
(Thu) Nov. 21, 3:00 pm Marimba Competition (Little Theater); 5:00 pm Violin Competition (Little Theater)
(Fri) Nov. 22, 3:00 pm Rondalla Competition (Little Theater); 5:00 pm Choir Competition (Main Theater)
(Sat) Nov. 23, 3:00 pm Winners of Traditional Music Ensemble Competition (Little Theater)
(Sun) Nov. 24, 6:00 pm CONCERT OF WINNERS (CCP Main Theater)

Admission is free for all competitions.

Tickets for the CONCERT OF WINNERS on November 24 are priced at P200 each. All proceeds shall be donated by the NAMCYA for the benefit of the earthquake and typhoon victims.
