The Real Sorsogueños Football Club (RSFC), Delta Beta Omega Sorsogon (DBO), Kurit-Lagting Art Collective, and Concerned Artists of the Philippines Bicol Chapter (CAP-Bicol), in partnership with Chacon General Hospital, successfully organized a Community Outreach and Medical Mission in Barangay Pamurayan, Sorsogon City.
Together with Barangay Health Workers and Barangay Council, this community outreach and medical mission was held on February 24, 2024. It provided essential medical services, education, and support to underserved populations in Barangay Pamurayan, with a focus on children, youth, and senior citizens, primarily from the local demographics of fisherfolk and farmers.
The event unfolded at the basketball court in Barangay Pamurayan, where a comprehensive range of services was offered. Activities included health seminars, medical check-ups for senior citizens, and the distribution of multivitamins and school supplies for children. The holistic approach aimed to address healthcare disparities, improve access to medical care, and promote overall well-being in the community.
“Being part of this effort has been truly fulfilling. It’s inspiring to see our diverse group come together to make a positive difference in the lives of the residents of Barangay Pamurayan,” said Gilbert Catabian, the project proponent and member of the Real Sorsogueños Football Club.
“Our commitment extends beyond traditional artistic pursuits. In Barangay Pamurayan, we are engaging in a comprehensive community outreach by organizing a medical mission for senior citizens, providing health education for parents, and distributing essential school supplies for children. Recognizing that health is a fundamental human right, we affirm that a community’s creative spirit thrives when well-being is prioritized and sustained,” added Allan Abrigo, co-founder of Kurit-Lagting Art Collective and member of CAP Bicol.
John Doctor, President of Delta Beta Omega, remarked, “It’s heartening to witness the positive impact that collaborative efforts can have on communities. The engagement of our organization in this outreach aligns with our longstanding commitment to social welfare and community development.”
The presence of Chacon General Hospital, Inc., through Dr. Alberto Chacon and Dra. Eleonor Chacon, was crucial to the success of the medical mission, with dedicated doctors and nurses providing their expertise. Noteworthy among them were Dr. Jose Ferdinand Lubag, Dr. Christian Babst Fabe Fajardo, Dr. Rommel Japson, and nurses Arlon Ray Mediana, Catherine Noarin, and Vincent John Dimaano.
Barangay Captain Arles Janaban also expressed his gratitude, stating, “This collaborative effort represents the true spirit of community. We appreciate the support and contributions of these organizations in enhancing the well-being of our residents in Barangay Pamurayan.”
