Student members of the United Architects of the Philippines Student Auxiliary (UAPSA) Area B District 5 in Bicol held their annual event during the first two weeks of March 2021. Entitled DA FACADE 2021 “Transcending oBliVion: Go Beyond the Limit,” the event served as an opportunity for students to represent their schools and compete in various online contests and attend workshops including seminars conducted by highly-qualified architect-practitioners and academicians, trainers from allied professions and artists from various art groups and art collectives.
During the course of the event, a talk show entitled Marhay na Aga: Artists and Fields Talk was held via Facebook live featuring different topics on architecture, Bicolano art and culture, artists’ welfare, and students’ career development.
“Our organization is committed to gearing its members from all over the nation towards camaraderie, professionalism, and selfless service. Our main objectives are to introduce the organization itself to the public in partnership with allied professions and organizations to train the forthcoming architects of the country into leadership development, self-improvement, and team coordination,” said Robert Marticio, UAPSA Area B District 5 director.
“We thank UAPSA Area B District 5 for this wonderful opportunity to share with other students the importance of the arts in our communities. It creates a conversation on the critical importance of the arts in our communities and how to harness the transformative power of the arts especially in architecture,” added Geri Matthew Carretero, co-founder of Kurit-Lagting Art Collective and one of the guest speakers during the talk show.
More online activities and virtual events these coming months.
