The UP Vargas Museum will hold its annual summer workshop for Junior Museum Guides (JMG) on May 17 to 21, 24 to 27, from 1:00PM to 5:00PM. The two-week program accepts children ages eight to 12 years old. The JMG workshop will culminate with a graduation and launch of their exhibition in the afternoon of May 28.
Junior Museum Guides is the museum’s educational program in line with ICOM’s celebration of the International Museum Day. The theme for this year is “Museums and Cultural Landscapes”. JMG this year explores the role of the museum in creating an awareness of art, history and heritage. It highlights the museum as a place for the interaction among many kinds of cultures and peoples.
Students will be acquainted with various museum works like guiding museum visitors, documenting and handling museum objects, and planning and putting up an exhibit. They will also engage in creative activities like drawing comics, printmaking, and creating artworks with paper-cutting and layering techniques.
Registration fee is P4,500 inclusive of workshop kits, art materials and snacks for the duration of the workshop. An early bird rate of P4,000.00 applies for early registration. The last day of registration is on May 14.
