UP Vargas Museum opens J Pacena II’s solo exhibit titled The Banquet: Subject Matter I of III on June 8, Wednesday, 4pm at the 1F Galleries of the Museum.
The Banquet: Subject Matter I of III focuses on three themes: The Current Art System and the Philippine Art Market, The Catalogue of Artists from year 2000-2015, and the Study of Space, Materials and Technique. Together, these reflect Pacena’s fascination with the work and practice of artists of different persuasions and how they come together to sketch out the landscape Philippine Contemporary Art.
The Banquet: Subject Matter I of III runs until July 2.
Jaime Jesus Comendador Pacena II (b. 1980) received his Bachelor in Fine Arts in the University of Sto. Tomas with a major in Advertising Arts in 2001. He was a grantee of the Jenesys Programme for Creators of the Japan Foundation in 2010. On the same year, he was part of the Asahi Art Festival Travel Study Tour. He attended an Artist-in-Residence program in Rikuzentaka, Japan on November 2015 to February 2014. He was a core member of TUTOK, an active in-house curator for CANVAS gallery, and he is also the founder and creative director of BMLab.
