To further its efforts in promoting regional arts and culture, the Cultural Center of the Philippines’ Cultural Exchange Department brings on outreach tour some of the country’s most prominent regional performing groups under its UGNAYAN SA SINING program.
Until August 25, the Visayas Collaborative Production will tour the cities of Cebu, Iloilo and Silay. With concept and direction by playwright-director-actor and Negros Museum executive director Ma. Lourdes Josefa Lopez, assisted by Iloilo teacher/choreographer and Dagyaw Baile artistic director Ria Espanola, the production features DAGYAW BAILE of the Iloilo National High School; KABATAANG SILAY RONDALLA of Silay City under Music Director/Trainor Jegger Anjao; and the UNIVERSITY OF THE VISAYAS CHORALE of Cebu City under choirmaster Anna Abeleda-Piquiero.
The outreach performance tour in Visayas is made possible thru the support of the University of the Visayas Cebu City, Ayala Center Cebu City, Halad Foundation & Museum, Iloilo National High School, Central Philippine University Iloilo, the City of Silay and the National Commission for Culture & the Arts.
From September 4-12, the Mindanao performing groups will give performances in Iligan City, General Santos City and Tagum City-Davao del Norte. The Mindanao Collaborative Production was jointly conceptualized by an artistic team from Mindanao led by Hobart Saviour (director), Sunnie Noel & Felimon Blanco (assistant directors), assisted in staging, music and choreography by Romeo Narvaez, Mebuyan and Leonardo Cariño led by the RMMC TEATRO AMBAHANON (General Santos), MSU KABPAPAGARIYA ENSEMBLE (General Santos), HELUBONG CULTURAL TROUPE (Lake Sebu), MSU SINING KAMBAYOKA ENSEMBLE (Marawi), MEBUYAN (Davao) and BAYANG BARRIOS (Agusan).
The Mindanao outreach is co-presented by the MSU Iligan Institute of Technology, Iligan City Tourism, Ramon Magsaysay Memorial Colleges Gen. Santos City, Musikahan sa Tagum Foundation Inc., Sacred Heart Parish Tagum and the University of South Eastern Philippines in Tagum.
From September 22-30, 2015, performing groups BARASOAIN KALINANGAN FOUNDATION INC. of Bulacan, LAHING BATANGAN DANCE TROUPE of Batangas City and the BAAO CHILDREN AND YOUTH CHOIR of Camarines Sur will tour in three sites in Luzon.
The Luzon Collaborative Production was also jointly created by foremost artists including Melandro Pascual (from Bulacan) for the concept, script and direction; choreography by Rodel Fronda (from Bulacan-Batangas) and chorale music by Bembot Briones of Baao.
