CCP announces 1st CCP ballet competition winners

The Cultural Center of the Philippines (CCP) has announced the winners of the 1st CCP Ballet Competition 2014 held at the Tanghalang Aurelio Tolentino (CCP Little Theater) on November 6 and 8, 2014.

The Cultural Center of the Philippines (CCP) has announced the winners of the 1st CCP Ballet Competition 2014 held at the Tanghalang Aurelio Tolentino (CCP Little Theater) on November 6 and 8, 2014.

The winners were:

Junior Category:

1st Prize: Klievert Jon Mendoza

2nd Prize: Mikaela Lauryn Santos

3rd Prize: Rissa May Camaclang

Special Awards:

           ·          Luva Adameit Award (Special Award for a female dancer): Veronica Atienza

           ·          Manolo Rosado Award (Special Award for a male dancer): Clark David Ortega

           ·          Trudl Dubsky Zipper Award (Outstanding Contemporary Choreography Award): Stephen Biadoma for Tiktik, interpreted by Klievert Jon Mendoza.

 Senior Category:

For the Senior Category, separate awards were given to the male and female participants.

Female:

1st Prize: Denise Parungao

2nd Prize: Ma. Regina Magbitang

3rd Prize: Jemima Sanielle Reyes

Male:

1st Prize: Garry Corpuz

3rd Prize: Aldrian Reifaus Ocampo

Special Awards:

           ·          Luva Adameit Award (Special Award for a Female Dancer): Angella Betina Carlos

           ·          Manolo Rosado Award (Special Award for a Male Dancer): A.L. Frederick Abraham

           ·          Trudl Dubsky Zipper Award (Outstanding Contemporary Choreography Award): Erl Sorilla for Dolores, Agonies of Cancer, interpreted by Aldrian Reifaus Ocampo.

The competition consisted of two parts. The first part was the rendition of the classical variations, and the second part was the performance of a contemporary piece.

The jury, composed of four Filipinos and one from the Asian region, were as follows:  Eddie Elejar, Carlos “Caloy” Garcia, Jeng Halili, Sonia Domingo Orevillo, and Pham Anh Phuong.

Prizes were the following:  P35,000 (1st Prize), P25,000 (2nd Prize), P15,000 (3rd Prize), and P10,000 (Trudl Dubsky Zipper Award for Outstanding Contemporary  Choreography).
