CCP hosts regional lecture-workshops on touring the arts from March to May

Cultural Center of the Philippines (CCP) Cultural Exchange Department (CED) will hold regional lecture-workshops on touring the arts from March to May 2019 in selected venues in Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao.

To further enhance the knowledge and skills of artists-managers and cultural workers in the regions, in managing local and international arts and cultural tours, the Cultural Center of the Philippines (CCP) Cultural Exchange Department (CED) will hold regional lecture-workshops on touring the arts from March to May 2019 in selected venues in Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao.

Touring is a major component of the arts that is common to all arts organizations.  For many years, more and more Filipino artists and groups are given the opportunity to perform and showcase in various venues here and abroad.  Hence, it is important to update and further enhance the skills of artists, cultural workers and managers on tour management.

The lecture-workshop is a three day specialized course on the organization and management of touring arts and cultural productions facilitated by notable experts, arts managers and cultural administrators. The target participants are regional artists-managers, coordinators of arts groups and producers who engage in touring the arts in national and international communities.  The project is initiated by the CCP CED in celebration of its 40 years of actively undertaking outreach programs and cultural exchanges.

Some of the topics that will be covered are:  Why Bring the Arts on Tour?; Preparing the artists and the production for a Tour; Prerequisites of Touring, The World Sees the Philippines thru the Arts, Performing for the international audience, among others.

The first leg of the workshop will be in Mindanao on March 26-29, 2019 in Musuan, Bukidnon, hosted by the Central Mindanao University, one of CCP’s Kaisa Sa Sining Regional Arts Centers in Mindanao. The Visayas leg will be on April 23-26 and Luzon is on May 2-6.  Participation has limited slots, pre-registration is needed and will be accepted on a first-come-first serve basis.  For more information, contact the CCP CED at tel. no. 832-1125 locals 1708-1709 and email address (ccp.ced2014@gmail.com).
