Fringe Magazine accepts contributions promoting everything at the fringes - from concerts to performances to exhibits to whatever. It's time for the otherness to be seen, so give us a yell at info@fringemag.net.
"If someone asked you about me, about what I do for a living, it's to 'weave words'," says Kiki Tan, who has been a writer "for as long as I care to remember." This one writes about... anything and everything.
Asked to describe himself, Mikee dela Cruz says that he is one who loves life - and this is, in many ways, his approach to everything he does, by making sure he at least tries things once (or twice, or thrice) before making up his mind about them. Best for us, he writes about these discoveries, so others can heed (or just ignore) what he found out for himself.
A graduate of Bachelor of Arts (Communication Studies) of the University of Newcastle in New South Wales, Australia (just don't ask when, he says), and Master of Development Communication from the University of the Philippines-Open University, Mick is a self-described all-around whatever. He can: photograph, do artworks with mixed media, write (of course), shoot flicks, community-organize, facilitate, lecture, research (with pioneering studies under his belt)... this one's a multi-tasker, who is even conversant in Filipino Sign Language. Cross his path is the dare (read: It won't be boring).
Fringe Magazine welcomes contributions from people who - like us - believe in celebrating life at the edges. After all, not everything mainstream is worth sh*t (err, excuse us); but a lot of those at the outskirts definitely deserve as much (if not even more) attention than those in the mainstream. So join us celebrate everything alternative - write that story and help us share it. Reach us at info@fringemag.net (we'll be waiting...).
A registered nurse, John Ryan (or call him "Rye") Mendoza hails from Cagayan de Oro City in Mindanao (where, no, it isn't always as "bloody", as the mainstream media claims it to be, he noted). He first moved to Metro Manila in 2010 (supposedly just to finish a health social science degree), but fell in love not necessarily with the (err, smoggy) place, but it's hustle and bustle. He now divides his time in Mindanao (where he still serves under-represented indigenous peoples), and elsewhere (Metro Manila included) for his advocacies. And, yes, he parties, too (see, activists need not be boring! - Ed).
