Curiosity, as they say, is the essence of human existence, especially among children. Kids have that natural curiosity about their surroundings which can lead to growth and development when nurtured properly.
But how do we channel this curiosity in developing appreciation and engagement in arts and culture among children? We create a safe space where they can self-initiate creativity, explore art making, and learn cultures through social interactions.
This is the idea behind Young At Art, a web series where two different generations of artists talk about their shared passions.
Premiering last July 14, 2021, each episode will be aired every Wednesday, 6pm, via the CCP YouTube Channel. The Season 1 will have 18 episodes.
Directed by Karl Alexis Jingco (Eksena PH), the project features a series of conversations between young children and veteran artists, where the older generation talks about their passion on arts and culture.
Aside from making art matters in every Filipino, the web series aims to see arts through the eyes of young artists. By providing children with enriching experiences and engaging interactions, it can provide learning potential on arts and culture.
Through the eyes of curious and talented kids, the audience can discern how arts can widen one’s imagination and creativity for human connection and deeper understanding of one’s cultural orientation.
The Young At Art series is produced by the Cultural Center of the Philippines, through the Audience Development Division, led by producing associate artistic director: Eva Mari DG Salvador and the Audience Development team members Ronnie B. Mirabuena, Lino B. Matalang Jr. and Ian Darwin Wong.
The production team include: editors Patrick Valerio and Ezikiel Pamaran, production manager Antonette Go, production coordinators Steph Estrella, Dianna Lyn Magpantay and Felix Tiongson. The show’s original song is composed by Jiereyco M. Basilio, Karl Alexis Jingco, and Fortunato O. Ramos Jr.
