Virgin Labfest presents 12 new plays for its 2025 season

o-presented by the Cultural Center of the Philippines (CCP), Tanghalang Pilipino Foundation Inc. (TP) and the Writer’s Bloc Inc., the playwrights festival of untried, untested and unstaged plays announces the new “virgin” plays.

After its successful three-week run for its 19th edition, with sold out shows and high turnouts of audiences, the Virgin Labfest marches on to its milestone season in 2025, with 12 new plays culled from over 200 submissions. 

Co-presented by the Cultural Center of the Philippines (CCP), Tanghalang Pilipino Foundation Inc. (TP) and the Writer’s Bloc Inc., the playwrights festival of untried, untested and unstaged plays announces the new “virgin” plays, namely: 

1.     Minating ni Mariah ang Manto ng Mommy ni Mama Mary by ELJAY CASTRO DELDOC

2.     Unang Araw by IVAN VILLACORTA GENTOLIZO

3.     Anniversary by NELSITO GOMEZ

4.    Ang Problema sa Trolley by IMUTHIS (HARVEY REBAYA SALLADOR)

5.     Mga Magindara sa Siyudad by CHRIS JOSEPH JUNIO

6.     Mommy G by JOBERT GREY LANDEZA

7.     Don’t Meow for Me, Catriona by RYAN MACHADO

8.     Presidential Suite 2 by SIEGE MALVAR

9.     The Late Mr. Palma by ROLIN MIGYUEL CADALLO OBINA

10. The Orphan and the Rat by LIANE CARLO R. SUELAN

11. Polar Coordinates by ADE VALENZONA

12. TBT: Takbo, Batang Tondo by MIKAELLA YOJ.

During its closing program last June 30, VLF also announced the revisited plays for its 20th year. The revisited plays chosen from the recently concluded VLF 19: PINTOG are  Pagkapit sa Hangin by JOSHUA LIM SOIdentité by JHUDIEL CLARE SOSA and Sa Babaeng Lahat by ELISE SANTOS.

The festival will return in 2025, weaving a new tapestry of stories and experiences that can be seen through thought-provoking performances. The spotlight on Filipino playwrights will continue — giving them a venue to transform their literary works from pages to stages.
