Feel the pulse and move to the beat as the country’s outstanding artists and dance groups gather to showcase the Philippine diverse dance culture in Pulso Filipinas: Filipino Dance Gala 2018 Synergy in Philippine Dance, a dance production presented by the Cultural Center of the Philippines, happening on June 30, at 7 p.m., and July 1, at 3p.m., at the Tanghalang Nicanor Abelardo (Main Theater).

Directed by Paul Morales, the dance showcase aims to educate, enrich and deepen the appreciation of dance as a form of expression through the various works by Filipino dance artists, choreographers and dance groups as they aspire to unite the dance community.

Focusing on dance expressions that highlight the excellence and versatility of Filipino artists, the Pulso Filipinas will utilize dance as a social tool for expressing and addressing the impulse to define Filipino soul and identity.

Through the different dance genre including folk, contemporary, hiphop/jazz, ballroom and classical ballet, the dance productions will highlight traditions, innovations, creativity, and excellence.

Featured dance groups and artists are CCP Resident Companies, including Ballet Philippines, Bayanihan National Folk Dance Company, Philippine Ballet Theatre, and Ramon Obusan Folkloric Group, as well as guest companies – Airdance, Ramon Magsaysay Awardee and Pangalay dance artist Ligaya Amilbangsa along with the AlunAlun Dance Circle, Ballet Manila, Belinda Adora Ensemble, Dwight Rodrigazo’s Dance Pull Project (Bacolod City) and the UP Dance Company. Dance artists Michael Barry Que and Abbey Carlos will also perform.

As the CCP commits to offer engaging activities for audiences, the Pulso Filipinas will also conduct workshops in hiphop, ballroom, folk dance, ballet and modern dance as well as other activities such as dance talk, forum, open rehearsals, and arts online lecture, to be handled by the CCP Arts Education Department, in partnership with the Ballet Philippines Dance School.
