CCP wins Best Public Service Digital Ad award in CMMA 2024

Produced in partnership with Giya Studios, the winning short video was created to promote the 35th Gawad Alternatibo, the longest-running independent film competition of its kind in Southeast Asia.

The Cultural Center of the Philippines reaches another milestone by winning the Best Public Service Digital Ad award in the Advertising Category of the 46th Catholic Mass Media Awards (CMMA) 2024 for its public service digital advertisement, “Life Is (a) Short (Film).”

Produced in partnership with Giya Studios, the winning short video was created to promote the 35th Gawad Alternatibo, the longest-running independent film competition of its kind in Southeast Asia.

Organized by the CCP, it highlights the institution’s commitment to empowering Filipino filmmakers, particularly young and emerging talents in the genres of animation, experimental, documentary, and short feature. The award-winning ad is available for public viewing via facebook.com/lifeisashortfilm

“The CCP is honored to receive this award as we continue to promote artistic excellence that also reflects our Christian values. We thank the CMMA for recognizing our efforts in uplifting arts and culture, and good morals at the same time,” said CCP Vice President and Artistic Director Dennis Marasigan.

This recognition celebrates not only the creative excellence of Giya Studios but also the shared vision of CCP and its partners to foster meaningful art that inspires families and uplifts Filipino creativity.

“Ang inspirasyon ng kwento ay tungkol sa mga taong sumusuporta sa ating pangarap. Lalo na sa mga filmmaker, malaking bagay ang mga taong nagpapakita ng suporta dahil hindi madali ang pagtahak sa ganitong pangarap,” said Giya Studio founder and filmmaker Arjanmar Rebeta, who was also the video’s director.

“Life Is (a) Short (Film)” also previously won Best Short Film and Film Favorite Winner at the 7th ESMoA Video Art + Film Festival in California, USA; Best Short Film (Social Film) at the 14th Свет миру / kinofestival “Light of the World” in Krestovaya, Russian Federation; and the Silver Light Prize at the Seoul International Kids & Youth Film Festival in South Korea.

In 1992, the CMMA focused on rewarding media products that exemplify both technical excellence and the transmittal of human values. Through this, the CMMA aimed to better tap their immense potential of mass media for spreading genuine Christian values.

On its website, the CMMA commends the winning groups for their, “outstanding creativity and commitment in producing ads that promote values and inspire positive change.”
