Celebrate National Children’s Book Day with CCP

The event will be held on July 16, from 9:00am to 5:30pm in the Little Theater Lobby of the Cultural Center of the Philippines.

This year’s National Children’s Book Day (NCBD) recognizes the best work of children’s book writers, illustrators, and publishers. Additionally, the event celebrates the importance of nurturing our young readers’ curiosity and imagination. The event will be held on July 16, from 9:00am to 5:30pm in the Little Theater Lobby of the Cultural Center of the Philippines.

The CCP Intertextual Division continues to celebrate the National Children’s Book Day with the Philippine Board on Books for Young People every third Tuesday of July. This is to commemorate the date of the publication of Jose Rizal’s “The Monkey and the Turtle” in Trubner’s Oriental Record in London. The celebration is highlighted by the PBBY-Alcala and Salanga Awarding Ceremony, which will begin at 9am in the Little Theater Lobby of the CCP. This event will be recognizing the best creators and publishers in children’s literature. In addition, The PBBY holds the grand opening for their brand new exhibit at the same location.

After lunch, the Mulat Sulat 2018 Group will commence the launching of five children’s books about Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender rights. The program in the Little Theater Lobby will feature the book launch, storytelling, and reading of excerpts.

Following the launch, Pinoy Kids Read Pinoy Books hosts their Pinoy Kids Celebration. This celebration includes both storytelling and a musical performance, along with various talks.

To end, the Audience Development Division of the CCP will lead 20 kids in a tour of the building. The tour will include arts activities, talks, as well as showing off the most important parts of the Cultural Center of the Philippines and its various exhibits. This will conclude the National Children’s Book Day celebration.
