Cultural Center of the Philippines, in partnership with the Concerned Artists of the Philippines, leads various communities in understanding and expressing grief for those who have passed on since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, through Damay at Dangal: Hanggang sa Muli, slated on April 9, happening simultaneously on-site at the CCP Ramp and Main Theater Lobby, and live-streamed by the CCP, CCP Intertextual Division, Damay at Dangal and Hanggang sa Muli Facebook pages.

With the support of the Hanggang sa Muli Memorial Website team, the one-day event initiated last year by the Citizens’ Urgent Response to End CoVid (Cure CoVid), the Promotion of Church People’s Response and the Bayan Muna Tandang Sora Network aims to remember the lives and works of those who have departed from March 2020 until the present.

The event will have a pre-show, starting at 3pm, with the presentation of Toym Imao’s installation at the CCP Ramp. The installation, which serves as an “altar,” will remain at the CCP Ramp until Sunday, April 10, 2022. Families, friends, and colleagues are encouraged to bring memorabilia of their departed loved ones. They can light candles, offer flowers, prayers, and mementos at the art installation. There will also be video presentation of the “Pagbabasa ng Pangalan ng Mga Yumao.”

Selected CCP officials and employees including President Arsenio Lizaso, and Vice-President and artistic director Chris Millado, as well as members of the Concerned Artists of the Philippines, artists and personalities such as Karen Davila, Rico Hizon, Agot Isidro, Nanding Josef, Joel Lamangan, Lualhati Bautista, Gina Alajar, Ricky Lee, Enchong Dee, among others, will take the lead in reading the names of the departed.

The main program to be directed by Krix San Gabriel will commence at 5pm, with prayers, musical performances by award-winning chorale Philippine Madrigal Singers, biblical readings, eulogies, and hosted by Iza Calzado and Atom Araullo.
