After its outreach concert in Baguio City, the Philippine Philharmonic Orchestra moves on to Malolos City, Bulacan, bringing a music-filled afternoon at the Bulacan Capitol Gymnasium on August 29.

The orchestra will perform classical pieces including Gioachino Rossini’s Overture to William Tell and Johannes Brahms’ Hungarian Dances. Expect engaging performances of classical and popular Filipino songs such as Dalagang Pilipina and Pepe and Pilar (both arranged by Maestro Ryan Cayabyab), Francisco Satiago’s Ano Kaya Ang Kapalaran, and Aegis Overture, among others.

Soprano Trixie Dayrit will give a soulful rendition of Nicanor Abelardo’s Mutya ng Pasig, while trumpet players Glober Calambro, Melvin Miranda and Edwin Matias will showcase their musical dexterity with Bugler’s Holiday.

The musical concert will be conducted by Maestro Herminildo Ranera. A conductor, composer, arranger, performer and educator, Dr. Ranera is the associate conductor of the PPO. He is also currently a faculty member of the St. Paul College of Manila and the UST Conservatory of Music, where he is the conductor of the UST Symphony Orchestra and UST Wind Orchestra.

Spearheaded by CCP president Arsenio “Nick” Lizaso, the PPO outreach concert in Bulacan is made possible through the partnership with the city government of Malolos, led by Mayor Christian Natividad.
