Breaking Glass Pictures announced the North American release of Salt Water, the stunning feature debut from Colombian writer-director Steven Morales Pineda. Following its festival premiere at the 2024 Miami Film Festival, Salt Water will be available across major digital platforms beginning June 24, 2025.

A deeply personal and unsettling exploration of identity, trauma, and forbidden connection, Salt Water follows Jacobo (Luis Mario Jiménez) as he reconnects with José Luis (Óskar Salazar Ruiz), a Catholic priest on the verge of leaving the clergy amid accusations of child molestation. Years after a painful, unspoken past, Jacobo confronts not only the man he blames for his brokenness but the complex, conflicting feelings of longing and resentment buried within him.

Salt Water is a fearless and intimate examination of emotional scars, unresolved trauma, and the tangled web of love and pain,” said Rich Wolff, CEO of Breaking Glass Pictures. “I had the chance to see this film at the Miami Film Festival, and I was immediately drawn to its quiet power and brave storytelling. It’s a film that lingers, challenges, and deeply moves — we’re honored to bring Steven’s voice to audiences here in North America.”

Directed, written, and produced by Steven Morales Pineda, the film also stars Ferraro Yerena, Braian V. Aburaad, and Clarissa Cuadros.

North American digital release: June 24, 2025
