Are you ready to have your composition performed by one of the most prestigious choral groups in the Philippines?

The Andrea O. Veneracion International Choral Festival (AOVICF) is now accepting entries for the first ever AOVICF Choral Composition Competition until May 30, 2025, at 11:59 PM (GMT+8).

Named after the founder of the world-renowned Philippine Madrigal Singers and one of our National Artists, the AOVICF is bound to its mission of nourishing passion for music and nurturing artistic excellence within and beyond the country.

With the launch of the 2025 Choral Composition Competition, the AOVICF welcomes all composers worldwide, amateur or professional, aged 18 years and above except employees of the Cultural Center of the Philippines and the current and former members of the Philippine Madrigal Singers. Entries must be original, unpublished, and have never been performed publicly.

Each composer may submit only one entry of an a cappella SATB composition with no more than two divisi per voice part. The piece must be ranging from 3.5 to 6 minutes and must be suitable for an intermediate-level choir.  Solo sections are allowed but should not exceed 30% of the piece’s total length. Texts in any language are welcome, but an English translation must be provided. If the text is not in the public domain and the composer is not the author, written permission from the copyright holder is required. All scores must be prepared using standard music notation software.

Composers may submit their entry via email to secretariat@aovchoralfestph.com, with a subject line “AOVICF 2025 Composition Competition.” Interested composers must pay the registration fee before submission, amounting to PHP 2,000 for Filipino composers and USD 40 for non-Filipino composers. To pay, please refer to the payment guide of which may be accessed through: bit.ly/AOVICF2025CompositionPaymentGuide

The Grand Prize winner will receive PHP 50,000 and a certificate, while two runners-up will be awarded certificates. The top three compositions will be premiered by the Philippine Madrigal Singers during the closing concert of the Andrea O. Veneracion International Choral Festival on August 24, 2025.

The winning composition will be under exclusive performance and publication rights of the festival for two years, and may not be publicly performed before AOVICF 2027. All entries will be judged anonymously, and the decisions of the jury are final and non-appealable.

The AOVICF is a collaboration of the Cultural Center of the Philippines, through its Artist Training Division under the CCP Arts Education Department, with the Philippine Madrigal Singers, the first Asian choir to win the European Grand Prix for Choral Singing twice (in 1997 and 2007, respectively).
