CCP stages ‘random act of culture’ at Baclaran Church

More than 300 choir members headed by the world renowned Philippine Madrigal Singers descended on churchgoers in a song and dance act that filled the choir lofts, aisles and altar of the iconic Baclaran Church. They sang and danced to Ryan Cayabyab’s “Hibang sa Awit” after the Wednesday noon mass.

The Cultural Center of the Philippines celebrated its 44th Anniversary by staging another “random act of culture” at Baclaran Church.

More than 300 choir members headed by the world renowned Philippine Madrigal Singers descended on churchgoers in a song and dance act that filled the choir lofts, aisles and altar of the iconic Baclaran Church. They sang and danced to Ryan Cayabyab’s “Hibang sa Awit” after the Wednesday noon mass.

CCP Artistic Director Chris Millado said: “In the wake of yet another scandal that has ravaged the nation, artists once again, persist in picking up the shreds of our dignity and sing with hopefulness that all Filipinos finally get the graceful lives they deserve.” Through this surprise performance, CCP exemplifies its vision of making “art matters to every Filipino.”

Last year, CCP held its first “random act of culture”, at the NAIA Terminal 3, also to celebrate its founding anniversary, with the Philippine Philharmonic Orchestra performing for passengers in the departure area of the airport.
