Stonewall National Museum schedules ‘55 Years of Pride’ exhibit from June 1-August 31

Unique to this exhibit is its international component, a first for the Stonewall Museum – in addition to running in Fort Lauderdale from June 1st to August 31st, ‘55 Years of Pride’ will have an Italian version arranged by Scripta Manent Editor, publisher of LGBTQ+ photographic history ‘Pride’, that will run for an extended period of time.

As the world combats rising anti-LGBTQ+ sentiment, Stonewall National Museum, Archives & Library (SNMAL), based in Florida in the USA, is launching an immersive historical experience that connects the community to its past and present. Pride takes us through our ups and downs and shows we have the answers we need to address the challenges we are facing.

“This year’s Pride is not a time for celebration, but one to organize and bring the spirit of Stonewall back to life,” stated Stonewall Museum’s President and CEO Robert Kesten. “During our ‘55 Years of Pride’ exhibit, attendees will be part of an around-the-world journey composed of archived footage, posters, and items from our archives, all detailing the personal stories of those who stood up for our community’s dignity and humanity.”

“Our team was greatly inspired by Scripta Manent Editor’s work. ‘Pride’ is an incredible collection of historical photographs focused on milestones in the LGBTQ+ community, and it beautifully embodies the goal of this year’s Pride Month. To achieve a truly inclusive world, we must come together and fight for our equality, because if we don’t we will lose it.”

Kesten added, “This exhibit is a reminder to all that our community is here to stay, both in the U.S. and beyond. We will never be erased, and as the world progresses forward those who are working to lock us back in the closet will fail.”

This Pride, Stonewall will again feature its Stonewall ‘INN’ Stonewall exhibit and 2nd Annual Reenactment of the famous Stonewall Uprising.

The ‘55 Years of Pride’ Exhibit will be held from June 1 – August 31 at the Hester Gallery of the Stonewall National Museum, Archives & Library, located at 1300 East Sunrise Blvd., Fort Lauderdale, Florida, USA.
