‘Virgin’ plays for VLF 2026

Following the successful conclusion of VLF XX: Hinog, the Cultural Center of the Philippines (CCP), Tanghalang Pilipino Foundation Inc. (TP) and the Writer’s Bloc Inc. unveil the lineup for VLF 21, featuring 12 new plays including works by seven virgin playwrights, with three revisited plays to look forward to.

Following the successful conclusion of VLF XX: Hinog, the Cultural Center of the Philippines (CCP), Tanghalang Pilipino Foundation Inc. (TP) and the Writer’s Bloc Inc. unveil the lineup for VLF 21, featuring 12 new plays including works by seven virgin playwrights, with three revisited plays to look forward to.

The 12 “virgin” plays are:

  1. Balos by Neil Arkhe Azcuna 
  2. Footprint by Jerome Canlas
  3. Elehiya by Dustin Celestino
  4. She’s Electric by Ron Evangelista
  5. Betamax by Faith Ferrer Lacanlale
  6. Taksyapo! by John Lapus
  7. Lualhati by Gab Mactal
  8. Mga Tutubi, Mga Guni-Guni by M. Manalastas
  9. Buhaghag by Gerald Manuel
  10. Human Rights Story of the Year by Elijah Felice Rosales
  11. Patayin ang mga Surot by Floyd Scott Tiogangco
  12. Password123, Pilipinas321 by Anthony Kim Vergara

Meanwhile, festival directors Tessa Jamias and Marco Viaña announced the revisited plays at the closing program of this year’s edition. The revisited plays are:

  1. Presidential Suite No. 2 by Siege Malvar
  2. The Late Mr. Real by Rolin Migyuel Obina
  3. Polar Coordinates by Ade Valenzona

The annual festival will come back for another edition of untried, untested and unstaged plays in June 2026.
