Applications open for 1st CCP National Ballet Competition 2014

Applications to the 1st CCP National Ballet Competition 2014 on November at the Cultural Center of the Philippines are now being accepted. Deadline for submission is on July 31, 2014.

The competition, which will be held on November 5-8, 2014 at the CCP Tanghalang Aurelio Tolentino (Little Theater), is open to solo ballet dancers, male and female, in the Junior and Senior categories.

The Junior Category is open to ballet dancers aged 13 years old to 18 years old by/on November 4, 2014. Repertoire requirements include performance of a female/male classical variation, and performance of an original or contemporary piece.

The Senior Category is open to ballet dancers aged 18 years old + 1 day to 25 years old by/on November 4, 2014. Repertoire requirements also include performance of a female/male classical variation, and performance of an original or contemporary piece.

A jury of five (5) adjudicators – four (4) Filipinos and one (1) from the Asian region will evaluate the Competition. The jury reserves the right not to award a first and/or a second prize. The decision of the jury is final.

The dancers will be scored on the basis of technique and artistry.

In both junior and senior categories, winners will receive P35,000 (1st Prize), P25,000 (2nd Prize) and P15,000 (3rd Prize), and the Trudl Dubsky Award for Choreography.

Application forms may be downloaded from the CCP website www.culturalcenter.gov.ph

A maximum of 15 finalists will be accepted for each category.
