The Cultural Center of the Philippines presents Promdi, a survey of contemporary visual arts in Dumaguete. The group exhibition will run from 8 June to 14 August at the CCP’s Pasilyo Vicente Manansala (2F Hallway Gallery) and Pasilyo Guillermo Tolentino (3F Hallway Gallery).

Promdi will include artworks by artists and collectives such as Alma Zosan Alcoran, Hersley-Ven Casero, Elle Divine, W. Don Flores, Ramsid Labe, Irma Lacorte, Lumago Designs, Jana Jumalon-Alano, Pisong La Libertad Women Livelihood, Ramon del Prado, Sharon Rose Dadang Rafols, Razcel Jan Salvarita, and Kitty Taniguchi. Promdi will open with an Artists’ Talk at 4pm on June 8 at the 4th floor MKP Hall. It will be followed by the exhibit’s Opening Reception at 6pm in the Pasilyo Guillermo Tolentino (3F Hallway Gallery). Promdi is possible with support from Silliman University, Mariyah Gallery, Galleria Duemila, and SalagZamboanga Jumalon Art House.
The Promdi Project is a survey of contemporary art practices in Dumaguete and surrounding areas through the persona of the artist-teacher. Selections for the exhibition was based primarily on active contemporary visual arts practices whose tone and tenor draw from concurrent teaching practices, both informal and institution- based. The result is an array of work diverse in formal scope and complex in its investigations. By using the extant, living framework of Dumaguete’s visual arts teaching, the exhibition hopes to raise questions not only about what is being taught but also about who the promdi is, who learner and teacher happen to be.
